I just purchased the 2024 RX 500h F Sport Performance model, I was puzzled to find out this particular is considered an EV car by my sale person and the car is registered as an EV,

Has an one come across this situation and questioned why?

 

Congrats!! If I remember right the plug in RX with the 18 kWh battery is coming later this year (the RX450h+) and that's the one that can be driven for 35 miles or so on battery alone. I don't think the 500h is plug-in. So it's the best currently available RX, but not the one that's considered an EV (or rather a full plug-in hybrid). Enjoy the new RX!

 

congrats on the new RX! lexus calls hybrids "electrified" but it's a stretch to call it an electric vehicle. plugin hybrid is just a hybrid with a bigger battery (and ev range) and still called "electrified".
phev's do qualify for tax credits though i think?

 

It's an HEV...hybrid electric vehicle, so yes it's a type of EV vehicle.

The plug-ins are PHEV, and then you also have the BEVs which have no internal combustion engines.
