Have Tesla vision on my model Y and I agree it does suck. For instance, it takes a bit to load when you start the car and it's not very accurate. However, Elons vision has always been to move towards autonomy so the removal of stalks and sensors kind of make sense when you look at it from that pov. When we aren't the ones driving anymore, it won't matter.
During my visit to the service center last week I noticed on the invoice that they disabled and capped my radar unit in my car. From what I understand they weren’t using it anymore anyway if your car’s software was up to date.
I've never had any issue with my Y.... but I just did a quick search and realized my car (2021) has the sensors. Looks like they announced the move to vision in Oct 2022 for 3 and Y. I haven't noticed any issue or difference in the front of the car sensing distance when parking the numerous times I've rented a Tesla which have all been 2022 or 2023 models.
I've never had an issue with it (unless the camera is fogged up), but IMO they should have never removed the parking sensors. Saying it's "bad" is a stretch. That said, they are constantly improving the cameras. Last software update made some major improvements

i believe yours has parking sensors (and hw3) too.

No parking sensors. They emailed me that they wouldn't be included when I ordered my Y giving me a chance to cancel my order. Optical works about 95 percent of the time. I'm confident they'll get it to 100

you're saying your front 'vision' sensing is accurate? the video i posted showed that the screen showed the car was 2 feet or more away from a wall/post/car when it was 2" away.

This has gotten better on our Y. Maybe it learns as it goes. What once showed us parked about 2 feet into, now shows us right up against. We're still a few inches away, but not too bad.

For a wall, it's mostly accurate unless the camera is blocked or dirty. In fact I'm usually further away than what it reports. It will sound a warning and display "STOP" and I'm usually further away than being reported. It's objects at ground level where it messes up sometimes
