Default 2008 Highlander Info/Forum?

Hey all,
I've got to buy a 'new' car and I'm looking at Highlanders for the wife.
I'll be keeping her RX330.

Looking at an 08 Highlander.
Does any one know much about these, or can recommend a good Highlander forum site, that is at least close to the quality of this site?

CL has been one of my favorite sites. Great people, easy to navigate, etc.
The only one that has been close has been the Honda Odysee forum I was on years ago, It was of similar high quality.

I've been on too many that are confusing to navigate.
Thanks,
Chapp

You take a chance with any used product, of course, particularly one that old. But, overall, the 2008 Highlanders, with the 3.3L V6 are probably a safer buy than the earlier ones with the notorious 3.0L V6 and its oil sludge/gel issues. It was a good engine as long as you religiously kept the oil and filter changed, but, because of its design, made the oil run hot, and was very intolerant of any oil-neglect.

iirc, the 2008 is the redesign that uses the 3.5. If it's a hybrid model, they continued using the old 3.3 until 2011. 3.5 is probably Toyota's most reliable v6 they've had, I would just ensure all recalls were done as there were a few about the cam gears and vvt oil line.

ToyotaNation would be your best bet for a forum since InternetBrands (CL's owner) doesn't have one, used to be a regular/mod in their Camry forum for years until I came over here after buying a few Lexus models.

Awesome. I'll look for the 3.5 and check on those recalls.
I appreciate your help.

I'd suggest that you'll get lots more info on an actual Toyota forum.

I would get another RX instead of a Highlander.

For one, they are trimmed nicer!
And two I'd like to stay at this forum.

And finally, there was almost no cost difference between the Highlander and RX last time I shopped around.

People want stupid money for high mileage Highlanders anyway so might as well stick with Lexus.

Might take a little more work finding a nice one at fair price cuz they made less of them but worth it in my opinion.
