great video on tesla model y range
he compares his Y with a kia niro hybrid to see which does close to its stated range on the same trip.
spoiler: y doesn't achieve stated range.
and on one trip he got only 169 mi. on a FULL CHARGE.
and i still don't get tesla not putting in a sun shade, this dude's in arizona but fortunately has a third party shade that keeps the car tolerable in scorching arizona.

In my last 1000 mile trip, I averaged 80 mph, 3 passengers with the cargo area full of suitcases. Road conditions were varied from mountain passes to straightaways. Ambient temp was above 90 F and I had the AC blasted and I averaged 255 miles. I also didn't ignore the trip planner like he did
Don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite Tesla YouTubers and his information is valuable, but he's not your average owner or driver. He's @ST430 on steroids

My boss has a 2017 Model X, 120K or so on it. Last he told me, his battery degradation was 80 percent. That's not bad over 6 years and that many miles. The useful life for him is when it degrades to 70 percent, then he'll sell it. There are lots of people around here and in SoCal who buy these up and change out the battery packs. A 90D battery pack runs around $13K

LoL that's really such a big misperception. Yes there are belts of wealth around Silicone valley but cities like San Jose where I live there's a lot of blue collar. Half my neighbors are retired blue collar. My next door neighbor is a flooring contractor, he and his brothers family rent the house together to be able to afford the rent. One house a couple of blocks down rents his driveway out to someone who lives in an RV, so it's not all gold paved streets and roses

tech employs tens of thousands (highly paid) there. of course there's millions of people there so there's all levels of income/wealth. but plenty who can afford a replacement battery.
1. Washington DC (where people go to serve, but end up serving themselves)
2. New York
3. Massachusetts
4. Washington
5. California
Although California ranks #1 in GDP at $3.5 Trillion, probably because of the size of our economy, being the main port of entry for goods from Asia, as well as being home to the entertainment industry, finance, and of course, the tech industry.
Anyway, back to the range video. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion by watching this video (or any Youtube video for that matter) that the Model Y's range is off by that much. Yes, there are certain conditions that can destroy range, like the heavy headwinds mentioned in his video, constantly flooring the throttle, driving 100 mph etc. Again, this guy just does not represent the typical Tesla owner

But honestly with the trip planer, I don't even look at range. It will have you charge enough to get to your destination quicker. Last trip, in 380 miles, two stops, less than 15 minutes each
