(and the mercedes ones). obviously bmw/mercedes are actual luxury cars. tesla has rightly gone for the mass market.
This is just solely my opinion, but if I was to rate why I would buy the Model Y (or Model 3) over other EV competitors, it would be 1) Drivetrain 2) tech/software 3) Charging infrastructure. As far as comfort, this is again just my opinion, both the Model Y and Model 3 are about as comfortable as a Camry or Avalon. The seats are not cheap nor do they feel cheap, and they bolster you well on long rides.

The EQS, BMW i4, Jaguar I-Pace/F-Pace and E-Tron are more luxurious and offer better rides with air suspension, but they are still way behind Tesla, Mercedes and BMW software though looks really cool, both are more complicated than they need to be. And as far as battey packs, they are several generations behind Tesla. The only advantage Mercedes and Audi have is their 800v architecture, but talking to owners, they never get near the advertised charging speeds

tesla seats are comfortable, sure, and comparing to camry/avalon/rav4 etc makes sense because tesla's gone right after those mainstream vehicles. the model 2 will no doubt aim to eat the corolla/corolla cross market next.

how do you know they're "several generations behind Tesla"?

as far as not getting the charging speeds, that could well have to do with electrify america etc. issues.

and it seems many of those non-tesla models meet or exceed their epa estimates in real world use, unlike tesla.

I've watched enough tear downs to know that Tesla is ahead when it comes to battery packs and everything else. Also to achieve longer range, the competition uses bigger battery packs, which means heavier, and more expensive. Tesla will get the same or nearly the same range with smaller (thus lighter) battery packs due to better management. Elon's philosophy is smaller, lighter, and more energy efficient platforms, which means smaller battery packs. My Model Y has an 81 kWh battery pack, yet gets nearly the range of many EV's with bigger packs
