remember steve jobs was FIRED by the company, replaced with a few TERRIBLE CEO's before he came back after the NeXT and Pixar adventures. apple even bought NeXT and sold Pixar to disney.

speaking of apple, in their great show For All Manklind, there's a musk like character doing amazing things in space... and he's quite erratic and out of the box too. fun to watch

i do think musk has way too much on his plate and i think he needs to pick 2 or 3 ventures, not a whole bunch. i also think tesla should not be some general AI company, because that will drag huge amounts of capital away from building cars.
Love that show, and love the Dev character

This has strong potential to age about as badly anything I've ever seen posted here. Also Tesla's valuation is heavily based on this, which again confounds me why you own Tesla stock. Invest in just a car company not one that does energy, robotics, super computers and AI.

On capital, how much does Tesla spend on the AI aspect vs. building cars. Got a number?

Actually let me correct that:

Tesla expects to spend over $10 billion on next-gen vehicles, AI products and other projects this year

Thanks, that's total capex. AFAIK there is no way to separate just the AI aspect, there is an AI chip in every Tesla for example.

Come on, you know better. Tesla has ASICs in every Tesla purpose built for FSD first iteration was designed by the legend himself Jim Keller. But hey as a Tesla investor and true believer yourself keep telling me all about how the company is nothing special lol. When Tesla solves FSD you're going to make a lot of money.

it's actually exactly like phones. teslas and phones are data collectors. the vast amounts of data collected into the cloud is crunched into small models for specific uses sent back into software that can fit in the cars/phones.

not dismissing the difficulty of fsd though... and beta 12.whatever is looking a lot better.
just wish a) it wasn't called fsd, and b) musk didn't say it will be final every year for the last several years.

a big problem with the hype around fsd though is that it may well already be factored into the stock price.

so at some point, let's say fsd is reliable. first off, you know a ton of drivers still won't 'trust' it. second, are people really going to allow their cars to be used as driverless ubers as has been claimed? i know i for one would say hell to the no.

having said that, if uber themselves could launch a fleet of driverless cars it could make them a ton of money.

i personally would love to have a reliable fsd though for long trips at least.

On a positive note, looks like TSLA is now on the upswing. Cathie Wood who's a TSLA investor just bought $141 Million worth of Tesla
