To RXSF's point, if conditions are so bad that multiple cameras can't properly function then the reality is that a driver likely could not either, but the car knows exactly where it is and can augment the standard camera input in other ways a person can't.

I don't necessarily agree with that. What if you have totally snow covered roads with no visible road markings? That doesn't mean you can't drive in those scenarios...

It doesn't, but that wasn't the point. The point was that if the conditions were so bad that that the cameras were rendered ineffective then you're probably just as ineffective as a driver at that point in time. If you can otherwise see clearly then the car can of course make the same judgment calls we would have to make on a snow covered road (and as noted it has the benefit of accurate location data to leverage as it figures things out, we only have that information by proxy).

Granted not in adverse weather conditions, FSD does pretty great at guessing where the lane is currently. It does no problem when lane markings are absent, usually by looking at other cars or where the sidewalks are.

I wonder how they plan to handle that with the cybercab when there is nobody to take over. Just stop in the middle of the road until the everything is clear? That could be a mess.
well, they have operator to take over.
But if roads are rendered useless due to major weather issues, I assume automated system will behave better than your uber driver getting you stuck on snow covered road in summer tires.
And yes, if there is a storm warning and city is stuck, i assume they will not work, just like you are not able to drive on those roads?
I think this is also 100% accurate. Honestly though its really not investing as much as its gambling, you're betting on Elon not investing in Tesla.
investing based on belief in leadership and their execution is nothing new. warren buffett is THE reason tons of people have invested in berkshire hathaway over the years. i don't agree that buying stock based on a belief in leadership is just gambling, it's based on a track record of that leadership.
you hate elon musk for many reasons, but objectively you can't deny his track record of success. many continue to believe he will continue to innovate and execute well, and yes the stock would go down (probably not indefinitely) if he left, just like for many other leaders or major companies. nvidia with its top guy would cause a huge stock problem.

right but revenue does not equal profit, they appear to have been taking some big losses... i haven't followed what's been going on with intel in recent years. i miss andy grove. i made some good money on intel in the past.
Tesla's biggest market is China (and the fastest growing for the company) so this doesn't hurt them that much. For some EV makers it will be a gut punch. Problem I have with cutting the subsidy is the same thing won't happen to oil production.
Overall I'm against what the new administration is doing here.
