Here's how many SC's are within a 60 mile radius of where I live as an example

I think it's smart to slow the growth a little and focus on uptime and expanding existing stations.

How many times I have seen companies expand too fast with too many locations only to have to shut down the stores that turn no profit, just ideas.

And just like the movie, the other members are still trying to figure out why the founder continues to talk to himself 😂

I'm still getting that T-shirt 🤣

out of curiosity I searched the metro area of Charlotte NC. Pretty sparse. Of course not all that familiar with the map toggles so maybe I clicked the wrong ones.

Not sure how big of an area this is, but here's what comes up for Tesla SC's close to Charlotte .The numbers are charging stations not occupied at a SC site a min ago

Now first moves have started, there have been confirmations of Tesla cancelling new SCs in New York, 3 new locations were cancelled in the middle of the build out.

New York area has been having issues with lack of available stalls due to large influx of ev drivers, which is why these were prioritized.

Oops.

This is not good.

Just watching rant on Out of Spec Reviews channel about it as well. Honestly as a two Teslas owner, this is very concerning.

From kyles rant:
  • Utility company that was working on 20 new sites can't contact anyone at Tesla anymore, emails are bouncing, everyone had been fired.
  • Car manufacturers can't contact anyone at Tesla anymore, in the middle of transition to Tesla plug. Tesla was late on some promises they made on high voltage charging. Some manufacturers are rethinking their commitment, and Germans are deciding if they want to reverse theirb decisions.

They actually fired all of the supercharger team.

Wtf. Kyle is industry expert and loves his Teslas.

I'm just curious as to why... there has to be a reason. Again working for startups for almost 25 years, I've seen entire departments abolished overnight and projects almost at the end of the tunnel abruptly cancelled. I don't know, maybe if we look at Tesla sale numbers state by state, country by country we will get the answer. It definitely does seem a little odd

EDIT

"Part of the reason Musk said he decided to dissolve the Supercharger team was to cut expenses so that the company would be able to restore its profit margins, The Associated Press reported. The company's profit margins have gone down recently because EV sales have gone down"

Tesla is 20 years old and has 140,000 employees worldwide, industry leader.

It is not a startup.

SC and adoption of tesla plug as standard was championed around as one of the biggest wins in the history.

Seems like just ego.

Sounds way too simplistic an answer to me

To me, the simplest explanation is the same reason other Giants are also announcing layoffs, regardless of record valuation

Google lays off dozens more Bay Area workers on way to record valuation

https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/google-layoffs-sunnyvale-record-valuation-19433620.php

Ego is running out and buying a social media company on impulse, and overpaying for it in the process. Firing whole teams couldn't be that. If that were the case, he shouldn't be CEO

Apparently you think Elon made that happen, so Elon might be now answering emails from all the manufacturers and utilities and construction companies, since he did all the work.

It is crazy to even justify this as normal.

Normal would be cutting even majority of people and other workers stepping up.

Having everyone cut means you are stopping SC development, you are instilling fear in your partners and you look like a child to everyone who are now doubting can they trust you to do business with you.
