Strong result for Rivian

Stock up over 17% on this half trading day don't think I've ever seen it go up that much in a single trading session.

I would dare to speculate that if Rivian meets it's 50K number (or comes close), they will survive and probably do well in the future

Things are looking good I think they'll actually make it. Ford is going to regret panicking and dissolving their investment in Rivian.

Agreed, I know trucks sell well but I think a SUV has a bigger audience to sell to.

I really like Rivian and want them to do well. I know someone that sold his Model 3 for a R1T and loves it.

shipping lots of vehicles selling at tens of thousands below their CURRENT (to new buyer) prices and losing a fortune isn't a great look.

but glad they're figuring out how to make more than a handful of vehicles.

and shocking, they're selling without gimmicks like fart cushion sounds, "beta" not full self driving, misaligned panels and more. just useful features and design and solid build quality.

pretty sure their auto steer is in beta mode as is most of their infotainment. They have many gimmick features and so does every luxury car company.

For new company to sell 50k vehicles in US only is quite a feat. Especially at these prices for a limited EV clientele, and only in the USA.
As they introduce lower priced models and expand their markets, their volumes will rise.

someone once told me it's not hard to sell gold coins at copper prices.

what they're currently 'selling' is the backlog at prices 10-20K below their CURRENT prices. i think someone i know paid $82K while current price is $98K. i doubt they're selling that many now at their actual current prices.

i like the rivian vehicles though and hope they make it!

lucid has great tech too but i don't see how they can survive.

They're selling a mix of higher priced and lower priced. Their stock allocation process is a joke so pre and post price change orders are going out depending on whether they have done a first mile test drive, have found the right customer service rep to give them shop access, or just lucked out. A lot of the pre-price change reservation holders are waiting because they aren't within delivery range of a service center, their state won't allow it, or they're waiting for an option that's unavailable (Max pack, dual motors, fixed powered tonneau cover etc.)
