Default Ev trucks and battery costs

A quote from an article on ev trucks caught my eye.

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/it-looks-like-the-electric-pickup-truck-revolution-is-dead-in-its-fat-tracks-217162.html

GM, for example, expects that battery cells will cost as low as $87 for each kWh (down from thousands of dollars not long ago) in 2025, a pack like the one in the GMC Hummer EV or Ram 1500 REV of 246.8 kWh would still cost the automaker more than $21,471 two years from now.
As weird as it is, I'd say If Tesla can make cybertruck price a lot less than other trucks it has a chance to eat their lunch

The ability to save on work truck fueling around here would be huge. And idling wastes zero fuel. Around town kills ICE mileage. So there is a market, a huge one.

right but if ASP of an ev truck becomes closer to 100k it's not so compelling.

Yep. I'll just keep our trusty gas hog Tundra. $100K buy a lotta gas, even around here. Ha!

It makes sense. When I had my 94 GS in the mid 2000s, there was a Prius buying frenzy among my coworkers (for me, Prius is a hard no anyway) and they were recruiting more Priusers. They asked me my MPG and when I said combined was about 19 MPG, they laughed at me with pity. I asked what the Prius cost and the folks who bought them shelled out $30k on average. I said my car is free and clear and 30k buys a lot of gasoline.

Keep squashing those batteries chemistries down smaller and smaller towards solid state.

By doing this, I predict a solid fuel source will come and no need for batteries aka most money & weight saved.

I think personally Lithium Phosphate batteries are the future. They are already in use, they have a longer lifespan, increased thermal stability, and don't use nickel or cobalt. They also have a longer lifecycle and last up to five times longer than Lithium Ion. Another advantage is you can charge them up to 100 percent as all the capacity is available

keenly watching to see where upcoming technologies like the the flux capacitor and dilithium crystal will fit in the EV market. Wonder if it will end up being a VHS/Betamax thing where only one of them can succeed, or if there's going to be room (and, of course, sufficient gigawatts) for both technologies to thrive. Time will tell.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the day warp speed becomes available and the ability to transport to planets where all the aliens speak English
