I'm going to reserve an EV thread here for Bolt EUV-discussion, given the car's increasing success in the marketplace, its overall competence, its excellent road manners, and generally good build-quality. There are even some satisfied owners here in CL....and one member recently got one for his daughter, who loves it.
Chevy Bolt (non-EUV) comments can also be posted if desired. It is not as desirable overall, though, as the EUV version.
If I were in the market for a BEV (which, at the time, I am not), this would be my first-choice, hands-down. Nothing else even comes close. Buick, unfortunately, does not do an EV or hybrid version of the Encore GX in the American market...but this is an excellent substitute, although it is FWD only.
I understand this is the last year of the Bolt. Is this version included? My neighbors just leased their 4th EV and 3rd Bolt. They love 'em. There are several Bolts and Teslas on my street.
i like the looks and features of the bolt euv but i undertand it's slow to charge, and range isn't great - are they the main dings against it, and perhaps why it's being killed off?
Saw my friend the other day and he is saying, "You Have To See This!":.
He shows me an app on his phone with numbers and gauges and says, "Can You Believe This?".
I told him I had no idea what I'm looking at, so what is this.
He said he's already beat 320 miles on a charge, then he beat 330, and was on the way to beat 350, he hopes.
He said the new battery on the battery recall was done, plus an update made a huge difference in range.
He also told me the used Bolts with 50k miles are a steal right now because they should already have the new battery recall done.
Anyway, that's the news.
Oh, almost forgot, he also said he was driving for mileage, no AC and light on the throttle to hit his number of 350 miles on a charge, he hopes.

My understanding is that they need to re-tool the factory to build Equinox and Blazer EVs, which are on a completely different platform from the Bolt EV/EUV. So they can't have both.
seems crazy (to kill it off) since it's a decent vehicle that could evolve into something really great. heck, have their chinese buick factory make 'em.

Wouldn't qualify for the tax credit if they made them there though

That's what I'm thinking too.
It's inexpensive and seems to be built ok.
Has range and basic creature comforts.
What more does one need who is on a budget.
Hell, I was thinking about getting a used one if I can get it for $15k with a new battery, just for the little bit of local driving that I do and have an extra car for a back up plan
I could use an extension cord and slow charge it at 110V for my 20 miles a week I drive. lol

Apparantly the battery tech in the Bolt is too expensive. GM was losing $9K or more on every Bolt; not sure if they made it to profitability.

I wasn't aware that GM was also cancelling the EUV version....bad move, IMO. Well, Buick may be bringing out some electrics in next few years (they don't have any U.S.-market electric or hybrids now), but they probably won't have the Bolt's bargain price.

And hopefully not the Bolt's losses. For-profit businesses are in the business of making a profit.
