Yep. It’s not entirely surprising given BMW is desperately trying to cement its presence in the $100k-$200k price point. The 5-series reflects the same challenges everyone else is having with keeping a healthy profit margin in the face of heavy R&D spending for EVs and connected software architectures.

Also, BMW pulled a fast one with the audio system - the 700W Harmon Kardon in the G30 is now renamed to the B&W system in the G60, while the crappy 200W base system is now rebranded as the HK system.
That's disappointing to hear. I'm going to check out the new models this week when my car is in for service. I have a 2019 G30 5 Series that's been a great car. The cabin materials are very good with very little that I would change. You mention the door bins - In the G30's they are soft touch and felt lined along with other premium touches you'd expect.

On the plus side, the Veganza (lol) seats were better than I expected. Softer than the usual Dakota leather and far better than the Sensatec it replaces. That's probably why the only leather that BMW offers for the 5 now is the Merino option.

Unfortunately, no matter which leather option you get, the dash and upper door panels don't get any leather covering, only soft plastic. Another sign of this vehicle's cost-cutting. It's made even more noticeable with just how large the upper door panels are.

Yeah that new Veganza material is incredible...it really feels like nappa leather.

This new E Class is a home run. If this can't stem the tide to SUVs, nothing can.

What's so good about Nappa leather? I mean I believe it and I've heard of it for sure.

That ship has long sailed, friend. And it's not coming back.

As good as the Lexus NuLuxe? That, I will have to see to believe. NuLuxe, for years, has been the gold-standard in imitation leather. Made a lot of cows happy.

Hi @Motorola .

Please tell me you're joking. Lol

They really named it Vaganza leather?

Horrible!

Its just a very nice quality semi-aniline leather

Same exact experience I had when BMW across the street got the new 5er in stock, I went to check it out. Incredibly disappointed with the amount of hard plastics being used especially in the lower door areas. Did not feel like a very premium experience.

As far as interior materials and finishes go, I'm not sure I would even put this 5 above the current Accord. People knock on Tesla for having not-as-luxurious interiors but the Model S blows the 5 away in interior materials and plushness (if not so much build quality).

Yeah I'm not a fan of the G60 5 series, though I find it preferrable to some of the other new BMW designs(looking at you M3 and 4 series).

I think the G30 will be a classic because of this.
