Arrived...2023 Model Y in Black
For daily driving (95% of our driving), I have my Y set to 75%. I don't know where to see the "recommended" level... is that in the app? And my guess is the "recommended" level is meaning "do not exceed" on a daily basis. I don't think there's anything wrong with being under that. It's over-charging the battery too frequently that degrades it over time from my understanding.

Speaking of charging, do you guys use the app feature where you can set the time to charge during off peak hours? I have my car set to charge every night at 11:45p. I looked at my utility company rates and overnight is the cheapest rates. It's hard to know how much it's saving me given how hot it has been in FL through the summer and my AC running constantly.

Because your electricity is probably owned and operated by your city. We have PG&E that looks for every opportunity to rip off it's customers. They charge me $11 a month just to take my electricity generated by my solar. And although I get my grid electricity from San Jose Clean Energy, PG&E charges me a "Delivery fee" and a "Generation" fee based on peak and off peak, which can be as high as .49 cents per kWh. Luckily the amount of solar I generate wipes those away, but they still cut into my credits

As a side note, I believe the F-150 Lightning can be used to run your home if necessary.

By the way, on NEM2 you get credited back at true up for the monthly grid use fee. So you will be credited about $132...
I'm on the old NEM thankfully. I'm looking at adding some additional solar panels, the guy I'm working with is looking to see if we can do it without breaking my NEM agreement. If it will break the agreement, I won't be adding any other solar panels
This evening I was coming home from an event, and getting on the freeway, a guy in a newer black Camaro (either an LT1 or 2SS) was in front of me, both of us were getting on the freeway. He gunned it on the onramp, and I thought, what the heck, the worst that will happen is he'll leave me in the dust. Didn't happen. I kept pace with him as he merged on the freeway. He noticed that I was on his tail, and I could hear that 6.2L crank to full, but I easily kept pace with him. Everytime he had a clear path, he went full throttle, and I easily kept up. We merged on to another freeway, and same thing. I kept up with him until about 85 mph, than I backed off as I don't want to get pulled over for racing or speeding, and I don't want to cause an accident or cause him to get into an accident driving too fast.
.
We both ended up getting off the same freeway off ramp, and he ended up next to me. We were almost dead even from one light to the next one, with me easily getting off the line before him. At the next light I looked at him and smiled, and he gave me the thumbs up, and we went our separate ways. If I had the power upgrade, or I was driving the Polestar, I would be easily eating his lunch. I'm just amazed how fast this family SUV is LoL!
There is going to come a point in time when EV's become the dominant force where being fast won't even be a thing anymore, because unless they are purposely made slow, being "fast" will no longer be a big deal. It will be who is the most efficient. At least that's how I see it
BTW I was thinking of turning on the dash Cam, but I don't want footage of me doing stupid stuff sitting in the cloud

Had to drop my son and his friend this morning to SF Airport for their flight to Chicago. It's about an 85 mile round trip, so on the way back, decided to try Autopilot with autosteer. This would be the perfect freeway to test it because it's a bloody mess. Lots of freeway expansion going on, sections are in disrepair etc. Autosteer handled like a champ. It was able to handle all the curves, areas with faded lines, areas under expansion. It was able to handle everything thrown at it, and kept the car well centered. I still wouldn't use it on a regular basis as I prefer to steer myself, but I can see this being useful in situations where I need to be distracted for a few minutes, change a setting in the infotainment screen, etc. The only thing it doesn't do is change lanes, you still have to do that manually unless I decided to add Enhanced Autopilot.
Driving at a steady 80 MPH, efficiency is still consistently amazing at 27 kWh per 100 miles

I use the autopilot on mine all the time for hwy driving. My drive back from Quebec City to Long Island last month was 540 miles, which took us 11 hours with all the stops for food and recharging. I did it with ease, thanks to the autopilot. I was able to move my body for stretching and enjoy the view on the road since I didn't need to focus 100% on driving. I can take my hand off the steering and my foot off the gas pedal. I even close my eyes for a minute or two while asking my wife in the passenger seat to alert me if she notices any road conditions. It is so nice that I can enjoy my drink & snack while going 75 MPH. Who said EV is not good for road trip
.
.
. I would never want to take anything else on a trip except an EV, mainly for the buttery smooth ride and instant torque gratification
I really feel sorry for people who are allergic to tech. They have no idea what they are missing out on. Just my 2cents for the day

I use autopilot all the time and it does the job very well but the implementation is poor. If I just rest my hand on the yoke it tells me to put my hands on and then when I put pressure so it will register my hands on it sometimes it will accept it other times it doesn’t and if I put too much pressure it will shut off. Also it shuts off when changing lanes and you have to reset your speed, there is no resume button. No reason they need to shut it off when changing lanes, others cars don’t do that.

It doesn't resume and you have to reset the speed
It accelerates slowly if someone slow moves out of your way, you have to hit the accelerator to get back to speed faster
Other than that, it seemed perfectly fine
