This is the Bay area. That's actually cheap, I charge my clients (IT consulting) minimum $130/hr. But it's the reason you can't really build stuff like iPhone's in America. How Tesla does it, especially building cars in Fremont of all places is nothing short of a miracle
Hourly rate is indeed cheap but the number of hours is way out of line the repair on your car isn't super complicated or unusual. 40+ hours is replacing the entire back or side of a car.

I'll let them worry about that. As long as it gets done properly, they can take all the time they want
They can request and be approved for overrides during the process. This approval will let them get started but I would be shocked if they didn't need supplemental overrides as they go along.

Its all in how they can get Geico to approve it. They may know they can get hours of labor approved where they cant get other items approved so they shift the estimate to reflect what Geico will approve. This happens all the time when dealing with insurance (including medical insurance etc)
it turns out she just left it in the cup holder. It also turn out that when she had gone to work, she never took it out of the cup holder, never locked the doors. She just walked away from the car like you would do with our Tesla's.
Did she turn it off? That's what I keep forgetting when I take my truck. At least it beeps loudly when I close the door.
I had to go into my emails to see how much my wife's rear bumper replacement cost. Pasted that below and this is from 2022. I'm assuming there is some deeper damage we're not seeing if they're quoting that number

They had to cut the rear panel, probably damage under it. Also the rear door has some damage. Wouldn't be surprised if they change it as well
Yesterday my wife was off from work, so I took the Model 3 and left her the keys for the Malibu rental in case she needed to run errands. Being a pharmacy tech working in retail, they constantly have emergencies (like fellow co-workers calling in sick), and being flu season, her pharmacist called her to come in due to a large number of scrips, as well as lots of appointments for the flu shot and being short staffed. So she took the Malibu. First thing, like me, she hated going back to driving a gas car. But more interestingly, before I went to bed I told her to make sure she leaves the key fob next to my wallet. Well, she couldn't find the fob. We looked everywhere, in her purse, in drawers, and other places she may have put it. Having a hunch, I told her to check the car, and it turns out she just left it in the cup holder. It also turn out that when she had gone to work, she never took it out of the cup holder, never locked the doors. She just walked away from the car like you would do with our Tesla's. The area where she works is very busy, lots of homeless and opportunists, so it's lucky nobody tried to open the doors, they would have had a free car
Another weakness of this vehicle is the infotainment system. My wife added her phone, and now Android Auto wouldn't connect. It kept trying to connect to my wife's phone, even though I kept selecting my phone. It would then time out, and then re-try my wife's phone. I had to remove my wife's phone from the profile, restart AA on my phone before it finally connected. In our Tesla's, it will auto detect the phone of the person in the drivers seat, and bring up the profile and settings of that driver. It occasionally gets it wrong, but then you just select the profile on the screen.
Anyway, still waiting on Tesla to get back to me on the repairs. The last status was they ordered parts, and they are still waiting on Geico to finish it's assessment of the damage after the rear panel was removed
iPhone would’ve connected flawlessly 😆

Took the BMW on roadtrip and we stopped for fuel about 20 min away before heading out. That’s when we realized we didn’t have a physical key fob with us. Wife thought I had my key and I thought she had her key because she typically leaves her in her purse. Instead of going back home, we proceeded on with our trip using our phone as a key.
Several months ago I believe it was a 2012/2013 Toyota Camry LE or SE. Front bumper had a crack in it. Called local body shop. New front bumper painted installed $725.
