2025 Toyota Camry (380D Program)
I have sparingly commented on this in a few online spaces since 2020, but will mention a bit more centrally, that the 2025 MY Camry was delayed a few years ago from a planned MY launch of 2024 in the fall of 2023.
Per a friend back in 2021, it has been exclusively developed in the United States at Toyota Technical Centers in Michigan, both Saline and Ann Arbor, under the 380D Program internal code. Plus, some Tier 1 personnel stretching up to Ontario, Canada with some administrative product planning guidance from TMNA HQ in Plano, Texas and advanced styling directives via CALTY in Newport Beach, California.
This was unlike the 010B Program Camry, which was developed mostly in Toyota-shi, Aichi, Japan from early 2013 to 2017 and designed at Toyota HQ, until December 2014 under the direction of CALTY's Ian Cartiabiano and finalized in January 2015, ahead of its launch for the 2018 model year.
Production will begin at Georgetown, Kentucky in March 2024 and launch next spring as a 2025 model. Any speculation you have been hearing about this vehicle from global media, is entirely false.
To my knowledge, a contact of mine who has been on several Toyota model programs many years, including the 2025 4Runner, 2024 Lexus TX, 2022 Tundra and several others, had some seat time in the upcoming Camry and noted to me, the prototype TRD Camry had as much as 350 hp and was a riot to drive.
I don't ask too many questions, so I cannot really say more. The vehicle will adopt T24A-FTS 2.4T, just like the MMC Highlander.
Please ignore any misinformation regarding a new 2024 Camry, as the 2024 Camry is carryover and enter production at TMMK in July, for summer launch and will serve an abbreviated model year ending next spring.
The 2025 Camry will retain its current TNGA-K FWD modular basis, which it debuted for the mid-large lineup in July 2017. It will be seen as a Major Model Change and not a Full Model Change like the 2018 model. Many components are carryover, as it is second generation TNGA-K and not an all new car.
I created this post to address some bad rumors (2024, renderings) and the accurate rumors of the nameplate's demise in JDM. This is true, as USA was decided to be the lead on this vehicle years ago. I've known this for some time, but had no relevant spaces to discuss it.
Expect to see either "spy" shots of this vehicle testing covered up as we get closer to its November 2023 unveiling and at least 10-12 months from launch in April/May 2024. These launch dates in 2024 are what I've known since 2021 and are tentative.
The 2025 Lexus ES has already been teased since 2021 and will arrive in 18 months, as will the all-new 4Runner and new RAV4 some months later.
The all new Land Cruiser will arrive before all of these vehicles, at the end of March 2024.

i figured the US would lead the camry development as it is its home market.
never knew how involved CALTY is in the grand scheme of things! they are local to me. i was thinking they only did a few design elements and that's it.
what rumors were being spread that were false?

What has Toyota been sitting on all this time, to cause such a long delay? New Camrys and Accords have almost always debuted at the same time. We have an all new Accord, but no new Camry. Must be nice being a company where such delays and faults don't hurt the bottom line (sarcasm).
Several news outlets are reporting that the Camry is being discontinued in Japan:

It will still be sold globally, coming out with a new generation which the OP has mentioned in his post

Next Gen US designed Camry is probably going to be a flop.
RIP Camry!

10 years LOL? How about 17? I just sold my 2006 SE with the 3.3L V6 nearly hitting 200K. I could of easily gotten another 50K out it. Problem was it started to slowly become a money pit with small problems. Engine and trans still solid as a rock!
Aren't most Camry's sold with the 4cyl now? Unless the design is a big turn-off, I don't see sales hurting very much by dropping the V6. I'm sure they'll go down, but that just follows the trend of all the mid-sized sedans that are left.
Most Camrys sold have always been the four cylinder since forever. In 2006 when I bought mine with the 3.3L, the dealership had to find one and ship it all the way from SoCal. Otherwise the dealer had lots of 4 cylinders on the lot. The four cylinder Camry has always been the most popular
