How much to tint up front
Yeah I know anything is technically illegal, but I see a lot of front tinted cars (sides, not windshield) so I'd imagine they'd more likely go after the limo tinted cars?
Just wondering if anybody has any input or experience on a level of tint that is more likely to get ignored... 50%?
I'm going for Huper Optik tint btw.
Thanks.

I'll give my coles notes here.
I had the LIGHTEST tint possible (25% or 15% or what ever it is ... the barely anything tint)
Well one day I was in North Van and to make a long story short the tint is what got my car impounded and it took 3 days & and some large amount of money and inconveniance to get it back ... I also had to have an 'inspection B' to verify that my car was in fact road legal.
Basically, you should look at tint as a temporary mod; eventually when the po-po has nothing to do or they are looking for a reason to pull you over, *ding* you're up.

I used to have 30% up front on my audi before and just as fay said, whenever the pigs had nothing better to do they would give me grief.
I still remember having a cop standing by the side of the road while I was stopped at a traffic light, walk right in front of me and ask me to wind down my windows (I screwed with him a little by winding it down completely then when he asked me to bring it back up, going all the way up lol). Though everytime they'd ***** at me for the tints i'd act all surprised and dumbfounded and claim I bought the car like that, even going so far as to ask if they knew where I could go to get them removed (lol); they'd always mellow out and be like just get them removed and let me go.
I'd say you might have better luck going undetected with 50%

yeah, i had tint on my old ride (camry sport), i got a remove front tint and inspection ticket. it sucked big time. which is why i haven't tinted any of my cars since then (either tint all windows or don't do them at all)
I the higher the number the lighter the tint, but in BC, you can't tint anything in the front... whereas in Manitoba, you can tint 50 front and 35 back.... I've done mine at all 50... somehow darker than my friend's 35% on his 09 WRX...
Also, tint the front light and the rear dark will make you look like the front haven't been tinted, but the whole atmosphere of you car is dark enough to get the cops' notice...

Isn't it the measure of how ever much light is let in? (as opposed to kept out) ... oh wait, that means I can't think properly ... I guess I meant I had 85%, or what ever?
either way, you've seen my back windows, I had that amount up front

tint scale goes as % of light allowed in. so from lightest to darkest, 70%, 50%, 35%, 20%, 5% aka limo tint.
price wise, u are looking at anywhere from 80-100 bucks for a pair.
i myself got the back 5 tinted 20%. left my front passenger and driver clear. im considering getting the benz tint done (bluish tint). its completely see through, but has a blue tinge to it to keep the IR, UV all out. wont touch the front windshield. though i have seen cars over seas do it, its really hard to drive at night.

But on my next car, I'm not going to tint. Too much of a bother.
Stupid po-po
I have 50% front sides, 40% rear sides, 15% rear. I got a ticket downtown 2 months after I got my tints around 8pm summer (fireworks night). When the sun sets is the most dangerous time with that level of tint because it makes the cabin really dark. In the day it's not too obvious unless it's a cloudy day (keep that sunroof open!). At night, it's hard to detect as well since no light out. Bottom line is, if your tinted up front you should be expecting a ticket in BC. The popos are trained to detect illegal tint.
