hey guys, I have a question regarding to disbuting speeding ticket. let's say, you got ticketed on Nov 1st and you disputed it. But after half a year you decided to pay for the ticket instead of going to court. Will that 3 penalty points be added based on the day you pay (or attend court) or on the day the ticket was issued?

i think its the day you pay because you are innocent until you are proven guilty .. and when you pay you admit guilt

^ +1. Normally the points are added when you admit guilt, so if you'd gone to court you would have admitted guilt (or been found guilty) on that day, but before that we're supposed to be 'innocent until proven guilty' (even though they don't treat us like that).

It may also make a difference if you had a: disputed the charge or b: disputed the amount (when you file the dispute you can dispute either the charge or the amount) but I'm not sure on that one.

thanks! but in my case, I have 2 charges on the same ticket (1 for speeding, 1 for "widened" exhaust). So is it possible to pay for the speeding one only (before court date) and go to court for the exhaust one?

oh and one more question, usually, how long is the time period between the re-scheduled court date and the first one if I couldn't show up on the first one?

^i think they book it according to when the cop has that day dedicated to only appearing in court.

btw. spotted a black 2IS with black wheels and blacked out grille at canadian tire on kingsway. the couple that owned the car were paying for something inside and spotted a tow truck getting ready to tow their car. lady ran out and the guy followed. they were talking to the tow truck driver. don't think they got towed though. either they paid the guy or tow truck let them off.

they were parked in a no stopping 3-6pm and it was 3:30pm.

Widened exhaust? Really? Nothing about excessive noise, or missing cats, just "widened"? That's a new one for me.

Spotted a white SC 400 south bound on Clark/Knight St. @ 330pm. An RCMP cruiser was
following him until he turned onto side street to Commercial.

I'm curious, what's the code he wrote down for the MVA violation?

its called "exhaust outlet opened or widened"

i got ticketed for this before most of u guys had a car, err back in umm 98? for my 5zigen cannonball on my honda prelude.

the motor vehicle act states that an exhaust oulet cannot be modified to be opened or widened. this vague description can be interpreted as any exhaust with a tip bigger than stock is illegal. however, the argument against is that u purchased an exhaust that came with an exhaust tip of that size already. you neither opened, widened or modified that exhaust tip as it came with the exhaust.

so it comes down to "were you peeving the cop off", eg, revving it, making a noise, downshifting loudly... or straight out looked cocky to peeve them enough to hand u a ticket.
