Default Tinting Questions

Is car window tinting allowed in Canada? Can we do it for the 4 side windows and rear window? If it is allowed, how much tint (%??) can we put? Thx.

i believe officially you can NOT tint the front two side windows at all, this is for the safety of police as they walk to the driver's side window, but lots of ppl chance it and tint it anyways, if u get caught u are slapped with a VI notice which means ~$80 to get your car inspected for street legalness plus whatever it costs you to have the tint removed beforehand... the back windows are all free, you can tint them whatever you like...

if you want to screen out some of the heat on the front windows there is a clearish tint that screens out heat/UV quite well called huper optik, a place in richmond does it, but it is quite pricey

as per my $500 day story ... we are deffinately not allowed anything in the front ... its a BC rule not a canada rule ... they can stick u with a number of different fines/notices etc ... if u go to n-motion, its $80 per window to put tint on and $50 per window to take it off when u get caught

tinted windows make the car look better. it's like a modification. i believe this is the major reason why windows are tinted. if we're only allowed to tint the back windows, then it really won't look good on the car. it just sucks to have too many car restrictions/regulations here in BC.

can't do anything . that's why i'm not going to put tint on any windows because just like you said the car will look "kinda fugly" with no tint in the front windows.

i think having some tint is still better than having no tint
esp my buddies like to stare at other drivers when in the rear seats of my car
lol
one time my friend forgot that i didnt have tint at front and he stared at this riced out integra
got me into a in north van
lol

so yeah having some tint is still better
lowers car temp in the summer too

or what you could do is do something like 50% up front (driver and front passenger windows pls pls pls dont tint ur windshield)
and 35% for rear
wont be so obvious then and cops wont be so picky about it i hope

In Ontario you're allowed 35% all around except for front windshield.

I believe it's 35% in front(driver and passanger) and as low as 5% for the rear windows... my 2 cents for what its worth
