Just picked up a 1999 LS400 190k miles for 1400. im unsure of what route i want to take with this build.. i honestly want a VIP build .. definitely a 4door vip vs my two sc's
The vehicle has been sitting for awhile. I notice when i first got the car the dust / tree sap build up very thick. However for 1400 i cannot resist. New to the LS400 Platform.. i used to own a LS430 UL and a LS460L 2012 model. This model feel like im riding an old Cadillac / oldsmobile .. but overall its very comfortable. With over 10k worth of receipt at the dealership changing alternator, starter, radiator, front struts, timing belt, and catalyst converters and more! Slowly restoring the car and keep up the maintenance before i start any kind of real modding.
here are pictures when i saw it online on facebook market..

Reason: adding info
First things first... got the car saturday.. so i spent the weekend cleaning it inside out... had to get the shine back on it see what im working with..i cleaned the LIVING hell outta this car.. it was soo bad..
throughout all this i bought valve cover gasket.. and all the spark plug ring gasket... getting parts to get it running good again.. only issue its having right now is the major leak from the valve cover gasket.. and a bunch of small stuff like the arm rest.. and door panels.. passenger front window dont row down thats it..
First off.. ended up buying a driver side door panel from the local junkyard.. for like 18 bucks.. definitely a good purchase... all the arm rest were shot at the junkyard.. definitely gonna be out looking for that and some black carpets..
definitely at first sight it looks nasty!... haha but gotta have a good eye to look past all that
as i was cleaning i was playing music in the LS.. i notice it had a subwoofer but it wasnt playing..
through volt test.. and some resistance test... i knew the subwoofer was blown...
i had an 8 inch woofer from my racecar left over so i ended up installing that too.. works well with the stock amp.. doesnt cut off.. 4ohms.. definitely enough bass for me..
you be surprised at how much coin and junk you find under the carpet.. under the seat etc.. pens and lighters over 20 year time span
Thats it for now.. i have a wedding this weekend got bunch of family in town ill start doing valve cover gasket and more cleaning in the bay when everything is done... ill be sure to document all my maintenance and mods
Nice repairs! How did you mount the subwoofer to your car?
On my 1991, the subwoofer has a built-in bracket for mounting it to the car. For that reason, and the fact that it was an odd 2 ohm subwoofer, I ended up refurbishing and reinstalling it on my car, but I would like to be able to easily put in an aftermarket one in the future.

it was a custom bracket i made...
i grabbed a cardboard box.. trace out what i needed.. basically the circle + the 4 corners where the stock sub mounts up.. grabbed some MDF wood and cut to perfection... sanded down what i needed.. and that was it.. and drill holes..
i believe the diameter is 8 inches... but the inner circle diameter is about 7.25 inches of the ring..
