Question Magnaflow Muffler Sound(s)

I’d like to make my GS sound a bit more aggressive and was thinking an easy simple upgrade would be to install Magnaflow mufflers. I see there are a few different types available by Magnaflow, curious what type you have all used? And what does it sound like? I still want my car to sound quiet while the cruise is set at 75 on the highway, but when i step on it to pass i want it to sound gnarly.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Hi Mtbiker, upgrading your rear mufflers can be a great way to improve the sound of your car on a budget. For most passenger cars, we recommend using either our 5x8x14" or 4x9x14" Signature Straight-Through series oval mufflers. We offer these in a number of different piping sizes, offset styles and finishes which can be found here on our website:

https://www.magnaflow.com/automotive...aight-through/

You can use the filter function on the left side of the page to select length>14". We recommend checking the measurements of the new muffler unit under your vehicle prior to purchasing to ensure correct fitment. If there are any other questions we can answer regarding muffler sizes, please let us know!

Is it pretty quiet on start up and normal drive or is it one of those thats loud all the time? you get like an axle back or just the muffler and had someone weld it in? i was thinking of getting an axle back but theyre so damn expensive for this car so i was thinking of just chopping the muffler lol.

I agree - leave it alone. Not sure what type of person wants their luxury, 4,000 lb, 4-door family sedan with a V6 engine to sound loud to the outside world. Where is the line drawn - should the LS be made to sound loud too?

I have Joe Z mufflers and I would definitely recommend them. Love the sound. Gave it just enough extra without making it sound like a civic

and ignore this comment because it s all about what YOU want not somebody else. Just replacing the mufflers will not make it sound loud and stupid. The GS may not be fast or a V8 but it is a sportier 4 door and a little extra sound feels good if that’s what you’re looking for.

Everyone has different taste, sound is preference if op wants an exhaust he can do as he pleases. Have not heard of any Magnaflow exhaust on the GS but I can say there are a bunch of exhaust out for the GS. Maybe the Tanabe maybe good since there is less drone which many would complain about.

I just did this mod and it sounds fantastic!
Replaced the stock mufflers with magnaflow 5x8 and resonators removed.
