Default Lexus 2gs n54 swap

Hi, my name is Josh, I'm not new the clublexus, but I'm new to posting on here lol. What do yall think about the n54 BMW motor with a zf8hp in a 2gs? I thought about doing the 2j, but that's SOOO common and boring. I've did all of the research (tuning, reliability, etc.), and its really not that much different then the 2j. Plus, it sound better in my opinion and u can add really cool trannys to it.

Maybe you should consider joining a BMW group to showcase your new swap idea. the 2jz gte is a powerhouse engine. extremely well built and the pride of many. I've seen a few comparison videos of the gte compared to the n54 engine. the common consensus is that the average reliability rating of the n54 is about 600. and the vanos system is a different ball game. and dont forget your gonna have to try to get the drivetrain to communicate wtih some of the body systems. a/c and such. not hating, i promise.

I was only thinking doing maybe 500-550hp at the most, but thanks. I didnt think about the a/c stuff.

Sounds like you're buying your way to problems, compared to the 2JZ:

I'm all for doing something original, yet the 2JZ-GTE swap is so mature, guess the question is... why...? : )

I think its a terrible idea, but that's just me. I think most European engines are junk these days. Sure, fancy when they're are new.. but they quickly become leaky pigs with brittle plastic everything. It would be a constant battle to keep it up. My girl's n52 has over 200,000 miles now and it's needed a lot of attention over the years. Lucky I can diag and wrench . If I couldn't, we wouldn't have the thing. These cars have my customers about bankrupt. It's sad how poor they hold up.

OP: If you think it's easy, do it. You've done "all the research", so I guess we'll just wait for the updates.

Since you asked what we think, I wouldn't do it, because there's already a straight six that has potential to make as much power as anyone could want, and can literally be installed in a day.

There's zero benefit to your plan besides the fun of attempting something nobody has done yet. So go nuts.
