Smile $600 dollar Black on Black 2005 GS300

ey guys, just going to use this to chronicle and update as i go. Just bought a clean title 2005 Lexus GS300. Running and driving, Black on Black, AC still works too, but it does 318xxx abused miles. Needs lots of maintence work. Spark plugs looked like they haven't been changed in 200k miles lol.
Oil Leaks everywhere! i pressure washed the engine bay bottom to top because the oil crud was caked on so thick. once i got most of it off, i did notice i had a pretty decent leak coming from what looks like the front main seal.
AC blows cold, but the servo's don't work, can't get it to switch between vents, its always on defrost.
Navigation map doesn't work.
Have 5 Check Engine light codes. p0420 and p0430, p0440, p0441, and p0446.
i think i fixed the evap codes by swapping out the VSV that is in the engine bay. i will swap the one's on the evap charcoal canister if they pop up again.
any good DIY's to smoke test evap system?
I will be borrow my friend's catalytic converters to see if i can clear the p0420 and 0430.
i'm also getting vibration at idle so i'm guessing motor mounts are toast. i have a local pick ur part near my house, so i'll be sourcing from there as i go. =)
i do all of the work myself, so first things i'm doing is to get it back to running condition,
Valve cover gasket has been changed out, because it was leaking oil on the header($30)
Plugs will be changed out soon, what i budget friendly set of plugs?
but i don't think it was a bad deal for $600 bucks. No accidents, paint is still decent, interior is nice with only a rip on the center arm rest. needs a really good detail and she'll be back up to my standards. i don't need immaculate, but at least tidy and cleaned up =)

i want to boost, i'm planning on either going NA-T or aristo 2ZGTE swap. still debating. don't need to be stupid fast, but just a little more uuuummmpph in the "seat of pants" dyno. =p

needs lots of love!

only rip is the center armrest!

Just bought and brought her home!

This is after a quick car wash. cleans up fairly nice!

Nice find, especially for a 2005. I had a exhaust leak cause those p04xx codes on my 04 GS300 but now I removed all the converters and run IS300 performance headers straight piped to the mufflers in the back. Two o2 spacers prevent those codes from ever coming back but you will fail a visual state inspection if you have those where you live.

Quick test on those motor mounts is pop the hood open, hold the brake pedal down and give it some gas while in drive and also in reverse. Look for excessive movement in the motor while you give it gas.

Thanks Guys,

im gonna pull the Cats off this weekend and check the gaskets, hopefully it's just that. Once i pass smog, i think i'll go with a NA-T setup for now.

thanks for the idea on the motor mount test too!
