I just registered with Club Lexus. I own a 2001 GS 430 that I purchased new. It has been the best, most dependable car that I have ever owned. I have made it a point to keep all necessary maintenance up to date, which has paid off in the long run. Naturally, with a 15 year old car approaching 200 k, things are beginning to get tired and worn out. This is understandable for most peripheral components. My most recent problem is that the right rear passenger door is stuck shut, which has been most frustrating. My independent mechanic was unable to open the door in order to remove the door panel in order to open the door to make the repair without significant damage to the door and/or door panel. I have seen an number of posts with this same problem, with few successful solutions. I called a Lexus dealer and spoke with an "advisor", who told me that Lexus could probably make the repair. I can't see how the dealer would open the door, unless Lexus knows a "secret" for this problem. Probable high repair costs for the dealer to attempt this repair have prevented me from biting the bullet for this repair by the dealer. I have not seen any posts by anyone who has had a Lexus dealer attempt this repair, and whether the dealer met with success. I would like to know if ANYONE out there has sought help from a Lexus dealer for this repair, whether the dealer was successful, and the cost for the repair.
