Default Shadow's Build

I have been following many builds on clublexus since I purchased my own 2007 IS350 (Shadow) in NOV 2013. I have always hesitated on starting my own thread, but felt it was about time once I began to tackle the 3rd-Gen Conversion myself. Before we begin with that project, let’s start with my background and current mod-list.

My first car was a Mazda Protégé (Victoria), only thinking of getting good gas mileage while I saved up for a car I could truly mod. The second was a 2000 Honda Prelude (Mia), where I began my love for cars and started learning about modding.

Then I bought Shadow.

Current Mod List:
ENGINE:
- Pre Badge F-sport/Greddy Exhuast? (unsure, was on car when purchased)
- Carbon Fiber Engine Cover 4-piece Set
- F-sport Aluminum Oil Cap
- F-sport Air Intake
- Bosch Platinum Series AGM Battery
FOOTWORK/CHASIS:
- Steering Wheel Shake Damper
- 18” Avant Garde M310, Dolphin Grey w/ Custom Gloss Coat
(front: 18x8.5 35mm/rear: 18x9.5 40mm)
- Brakenetic Premium Drilled/Slotted Discs
- G2 Blue Painted Calipers w/ White LEXUS Decal
- Tein Street Advance Coilovers
- Cusco Front Upper Strut Bar
- Blox Racing Extended Lug Nuts w/ Muteki Wheel Locks
EXTERIOR:
- Black Pearl Emblems
- Custom Smoke Tail Lights/Rear Reflectors
- Painted Wald Replica Spoiler
- 3rd Gen IS F-sport Front Bumper Conversion
INTERIOR:
- F-sport Shift ****
- 3D MAXpider Carbon Black Mats & Trunk Mat
- F-sport Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel
- Door Sill Illuminated (Blue)
- V-LED White Interior Lights
- Clear Courtesy Door Lamps
- Lexus Aluminum Trim Glove Box

Sorry for iphone pics

3rd Gen IS F-sport Front Bumper Conversion Project:
So for starters, the only prior bodywork experience I have is attaching a front lip/spoiler onto a car. But seeing so many others attempt and succeed gave me motivation to do it myself; plus I personally think it’s more fun/rewarding doing something on your own rather than having a shop do it for you. I would like to thank the following: those who have made threads on their 3IS conversions for motivation/tips; Drew (6sick6) for answering my questions throughout my project; and my wife for reminding me why I was doing it in the first place, for those moments you start to hate your car, haha.
PARTS ($1276):
- F-sport Front Bumper ($300)
- F-sport Grill ($395)
- F-sport Chrome Grill Surround ($80)
- F-sport Tow Hook Cover ($18)
- F-sport JDM Style Fog Lights ($168)
- Black Pearl Emblem ($135)
- Fusing/Molding Supplies ($180)
Before:

Initial Bonding: using a hot staple gun (http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/astr...n-p-19673.aspx)

Test Fit:

Rear Fusing: used Valvoline PlioGrip #3 Plastic Repair (x2) w/ mesh (http://="http://www.ebay.com/itm/201...3AMEBIDX%3AIT")

Front Fusing: same as above (x2)

Sensors: My car came equipped with front sensors but I did not want the obnoxious discs taking away from the conversion. Instead I molded them to fit/work inside the pre-existing holes on the lower half of the grill.

Love to see the DIY project! So much more rewarding if you do it yourself.

Post more pics once able. Keep up the good work!

Sanding: I used a dremel with stone attachment to level/mold the pliogrip epoxy. After, I put a thin coat of pliogrip finishing cream and block sanded with soft sanders (http://www.autotoolworld.com/Style-L...CFQiQaQod9uMP4), starting with 80 Grit - 180 Grit - 220 Grit.
Before Block Sanding:

After:

Final Test Fit:

Now it's time for paint!

Thanks, always try and give them proper/badass names. And I do miss the H22, it was an awesome car and sounded great with my DSPORT headers and Skunk2 exhaust.

So I got the car back from the shop last Friday, and it looks great. But on my way home, the engine light came on. Ran the code which came up as a "knock sensor" error. Took it to Lexus to get it checked out and guess what? Apparently while my car sat at the house the last several weeks while working on the front bumper, a mouse climbed into my engine and chewed up both knock sensors and wire harnesses, repair cost as of now: $1850. The one good thing is Insurance actually covers rodent damage to cars, so minus my deductible they will pay for it all.

Once the car gets repaired, I will get some pictures and post for all to see.

Actually planning next project right now, think it will be headlights. Anyone get the new 78-works headlights?
