Default A Real Build Thread (2nd)

So after selling the 2nd generation IS I had, I figure it is time for a second one. Coincidentally it is nearly in the same condition as the last. I will document the progress here. So far I have to remove the passenger side rail and engine. The rail couldn't be removed without removing the engine. Also the water pump and a injector harness was damaged. Purchase price $8,500

Before replacing the bag's

Airbag's on Diver side replaced

Removing the seat belts from the car

Yea I have a black one we also purchased for parts. We bought a non f sport for parts, so I plan on switching out the seat bottoms so I'll have heated and cooled seats. I don't know why they didn't offer cooled seats on the f sports but they did on the regular model. We have some body upgrades and since I'm a PPE dealer I'm going to redo the exhaust

Nice!!
I've always been fascinated on how body artist turn a wreck car Into a gem!
So the F sport model is the one getting rebuild, Huh?
The 2015 f sport has cooled seats!
But you should throw in all the luxurious amenities from the non f..
Memory seats, parking sensors, reverse tilting passager mirror, telescope steering wheel, lane keep assist, distronic cruise control, and many more!
A vivid tear down and I vote to "sticky!"

This is going to be a sick build as long as we get a ton of pics! I'm also very intrigued how you turn a wrecked car into a diamond again!

The f sport is the one getting rebuilt. It is a 2014, so no cooled seats but the same harnesses are present so it should be as simple as switching the seat bottom with the fan and the switch on the center console. I am also going to upgrad the heater in the seats. I have read alot of issues with them sucking from 14-15. So I ordered the heater from the dealer while I have the seat a part I switch them. Unfortunatly my donor car didnt have alot of the extra's. The only real extra it had was remote start. I have more pictures which i will post later.

After ripping apart the seat and the dash, the harnesses are entirely different. I was hoping they two models would be wired the same like many manufacture do, but to put the fan's in the car I'd have to swap the entire wire harnesses and its just not worth it because it doesn't even cool that much.

In order to replace the rear seat belts the ENTIRE rear interior has to come out, major PITA.

Donor Car

Replace rail weld...

Good new is nearly all the electronics are on the left side, so no damage to the expensive stuff

Killer work. So I'm just curious. You bought the car for $8500. How much do you think the total will be once it's finished? I'm just curious how much you save over a non-wrecked car.

Love this thread!
