stereorob's L$400 build thread

So I picked up a really raunchy condition 94 Ls400 for 400 bucks a few months back. It's a project, serious project. Have hardly any time to play with it but whenever I get a chance I'm out there doing this and that to it. Not going for show with this one. Only thing I give a **** about is FAST and LOUD. yesterday some fellow Ls400 buddy's of mine came over and we started doing some stuff to it. Cats were clogged so we disconnected them and ground all the crap out if them

The car is stuck in safe mode and won't rev over 2000 rpm. But sounds beast AF. Gotta get it out of safe mode next. Also the car is full of mold and nasty stink water. Drained that out

Buddy called it Lexus Tea lol

Car is pretty ratchet but the more time I spend with it the more ideas I get for it. Weight reduction is next. Then real exhaust and plasti dip. Rims and slamming after. Then a 5 speed swap eventually

Since I got the car for 400 bucks it's nickname is L$400. This is gunna be a ghettotastic Hooptie racer. Leaving it ugly. Plastering stickers all over it, and making it fast and loud lol

If it were me and my buddy's we would have bet each other to drink the tea. lol.

Weight reduction? How do you do this w/o sacrificing comfort?

PureDrifter Jul 31, 2014 12:15 PM

Don't think he cares about comfort -__-

It'd be cool if you rat-rod styled it... just an IDGAF look to it "because 400$"

Wtf sort of bieber-tween-speak is that, and wtf does that mean?

Forget Plastidip, get out the wire wheel on the grinder and take her down to bare metal and let nature do her thing. Why pay for paint when rust is free and for more broke-status/ghettotastic!:thumbup:

No need to discourage someone doing whatever THEY WANT to a 400$ LS

Shmee Aug 1, 2014 08:11 PM

Wasn't discouraging, just offering another/cheaper option. He'll probably spend $100+ on Plastidip but borrowing a grinder with a wire wheel to strip off the paint or using his own is free! :D

Actually, rat rod is kinda what I'm going for. The car is a super pos already. I've got a really clean ucf20 as my daily. This is just a project. Something to play with.

Stereorob Aug 4, 2014 09:49 AM

Weight reduction.. Removal of the AC components, interior padding. Sunroof prob. Seats. Thinking about putting a wood hatch where the sunroof hole is. Might put padlocks on the doors instead of regular handles and locks. I want the most ghetto looking Ls400 in town but make it really fast. I've been looking at turbo kits got the engine

check out this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...400-turbo.html

Using a gt35r on a stock ucf10 1uz. Claims he increased his rwhp to 435. Something I'll be looking into in the next few years. The burnout he did was inspiration enough for me.

padlocks lol! making a car look ghetto is pretty easy, making it fast is another thing. take pics of your progress regardless!
