Thanks. Yeah, I will probably end up getting a 2013 GS350 F-SportOriginally Posted by Sevenevez

I'll buy the salvaged car and try to get as many parts off it as possible - brakes, wheels, rear diff. I can't sue him as that isn't possible in Ontario - there's a particular law that applies in this case - its called "diminishing value" and is applicable in other provinces of Canada, but not in Ontario where I live. Can you hook that thing up to play cd's?
Thanks. I have no idea how to hook it up to a CD player. If I were you, I'd just rip the CD's and put them on a USB stick. That's how I listen to my music.Originally Posted by J$mooth23
Dam yo I feel for ya bro. That tab in there was clean. Makes the car look real nice with that in there. Can you hook that thing up to play cd's?

I ended up convincing the Insurance company to let me keep the car as they had branded it as a salvage car. After talking at length with the body shop owner and my mechanic (he has worked on this car for the last 13 years I've had it) and they both said I should fix the car and keep it as there is no structural damage to the car. Thats very hard to believe from the pics, but apparently the only structural part of the car that needs to be fixed is some part in front of the drivers side front wheel.
There's no damage to the structural member behind the front wheel - thats when the structural integrity of the cabin would have been compromised and thus the car is repairable.
I was at the body shop a couple of weeks ago and all the damaged parts of the car were off - the hood, fenders, bumper, headlights etc and it just looked like a car with a couple of missing parts.
There is no way I can get even a half decent luxury car for the payout I was getting from the Insurance company $9.6K, so I decided to buy it out and they gave me $7K plus the car and I have to come up with another $2.6K on top of the $7K to get it fixed.
It will probably be ready by the end of January as the bodyshop has some higher priority "insurance' jobs in front of mine - hopefully that doesn't mean I will keep getting bumped till god knows when.
Anyway, the body shop owner assured me that after the repair it will be very hard to tell the car was in a collision to begin with. Crossing my fingers and hoping the car comes back ok.
I'll update this thread with new pics once I get it back. Thanks for the support everyone.
This car has never been a daily driver for me except for the first year I had it back in 2002/2003, hence I can't justify getting rid of it and taking out a loan to buy an equivalent luxury car only to drive it in the summer and that too only when the weather is good.

Car is all prepped and ready for paint (the engine compartment anyway). The rest of the car will be painted later after the front end is put back together.

Thanks man. I'm very excited about it now too even though its costing me extra on top of the Insurance payout as the Insurance company "scrapped" the car.Originally Posted by nyc80rick
This is as exciting as a build thread. Glad to see your car coming back together
Edges sealed in prep for painting the engine compartment.
