Been a while... Back in the 2GS game...
Well fellas, I'm back in a 2GS. It's been a fun few years being out of the Lexus/VIP scene.
My first GS was an '03 Sport Design, Graphite Grey Pearl on Saddle... It went thru a mini-build...
I sold that and got into Mustangs for a bit...
'93 LX, 5.0/5 spd, Black/Black
'89 LX, 5.0/5 spd, Cabernet Red/Tan
Then I was lucky enough to build my dream car...
'03 Sonic Blue Cobra
Then I decided to go to the "darkside" and get a vette...
'01 Quicksilver Z06.
And to now... I've been looking for a while for another 2GS. I told myself that it had to be a 4XX and had to have black interior.
I found a car for sale locally that fit the bill...
'98 GS400, Antique Bronze Mica/Black
-base model with no options other than heated seats, spoiler is aftermarket
-140k miles, all maintenance/service up to date with records
-overall a very clean car considering it's 15 years old
Mods for it will come slowly. I have a few minor maintenance things to tend to.
-door lock actuators
-rotors
-new fluids (peace of mind)
-additional key fob
-potentially a new hood latch release chord
-new tint
-trip to PDR guy
-fresh clay/polish/wax
Then for mods I'm thinking...
-coilovers
-19" varrstoen 1.1.2
-01+ tails
-SD headlights
-TTE front lip
Glad to be back fellas.

Nice find on your new Lexus, but I have to say that Sport Design you had originally was about perfect. Love the gray color and saddle interior. That had to be a fairly rare combination. I would love to have that set up.

Under 6k? Looks like a pretty good deal to me. I was a Mustang/Camaro person all my life until I bought my gs a few years ago. Reliability and build quality, especially on the interiors, is like going from spam to prime rib. I think every other week a part was failing or an interior piece would break or fall off in my Camaro lol. Not to mention the oil leaks all over my driveway. Welcome back man.

Life forced me to move on from that car. Sold it to a member on this forum, SureShot.
Yes, from what I can tell the SD GGP/Saddle in somewhat of a "unicorn". It was a beautiful color combination. Lexus really missed their mark, IMO, by not offering the Sport Design on the 430's.
Agree with you on reliability issues of GM. The z06 I had had ~15k miles so needless to say, it was a cherry and had no issues. But I have friends with Camaros and they are always wrenching on something that's broken.

I got started on some things today. First things first, I removed the aftermarket rear spoiler. I didn't like what I found underneath, but I don't like the look of spoilers on a 2GS...
Then I figured I'd take a shot and go to a local pick and pull to see if they had any 2GS's in the yard and much to my surprise I stumbled upon this...
I feel sorry for whoever wrecked that car, looked like a wicked accident...
The car was an '02 Sport Design. As you can see from above. The car was seriously totaled. I could only open the driver's door, so I was limited as to what I could retrieve. It's a shame too b/c there were some nice blackwood door pieces in there. However, I was able to retrieve the following...
-01+ taillights & harnesses
-sport design steering ECU
-01+ instrument cluster and clock surround
-compass rear view mirror
-misc HID components
-"L" decklid emblem
-blackwood shift ****
All for a whopping $130
So long as it's not too cold tomorrow, supposed to be a high of 20* here, I'll get the new tails polished up and installed.
