Lightbulb codenko's 2008 SFP IS2slow build

This started off as a simple build...just wanted the car to look good and that was about it. But as I've grown older and started to have more fun with my car, I've realized that I really like driving my car hard. It may just be a lowly 4GR-FSE, but I want it to look good AND handle well damnit. I used to modify my car with whatever I could get my hands on. Now, I only put that parts on if they are quality and/or proven to have some benefit. This thread is now here to catalog my re-build.

How do you like the Tanabe springs?

What's next? Ever thought of getting an aftermarket exhaust?

They're pretty great. Same ride comfort as stock with a good drop. I'll be getting coils soon so I'll probably throw these on the classifieds.

F-Sport exhaust coming soon

the same day...I wanted to make it a little louder, so I got the resonators removed.

Time to make it a little sportier, so got the roof blacked out and removed the roof spoiler because it looked out of place. Also installed an F-Sport shift ****.

Wow, haven't updated this thread in a long time. The car has gone through so many phases since the last posting.

I started making a little more money and being a kid (for the most part), starting modifying my IS in any way possible...exhaust, intake, whatever I could get my hands on and whatever price i could get it at lowest. I threw on parts by D2, Megan Racing, STR, Tein...just wanted stuff to make it look good and sound good.

As I started to drive more and more, canyons, twistys, etc...I felt like the car always lacked something. It was soft, didn't particularly handle well, and left more to be desired. I love the 2IS platform and decided to start getting serious and more picky about what I chose to put on my car. I slowly sold everything off my car and started to re-build with what I considered more "trustworthy" and tested parts. Starting following Redspecer's and a couple other performance oriented threads and learned a lot about being able to push my little IS into a different bracket. New wheels and suspension bits later...and here I am.

I still have a long ways to go, but hopefully I'll have more pictures to document it at I go.
