Sorry, I come from another world where changing exhaust pressure requires engine calibration to maintain reliability and take full advantage of the slight power increase.
Since this 430 went from silent to rumbling, I assumed the new exhaust was also much less restrictive.
You are right for one thing, I know very little about the 430 but I'm not totally new to internal combustion powerplants.
My bad if the computer in our lovely 430 is smart enough to compensate alone for this kind of abuses.

well in my last v8 lex after a full exhaust install and a cai (cold air intake) i did get the ecu recalibrated to compensate and take advantage of the added power so i know what you are talking about.

Thanks guys. Not sure who offers any ECU retuning for Toyota computers. It's almost like Toyota programed their ecu in a completely different lingo. If anybody knows a reflash service for our ECUs, please share.
thx for all the comments fellows!

Just got off the phone with JET Performance and they offer a reflash for Fuel and Timing on the LS430. Have anybody tried this with real results?..
JET claims 12hp and 14tq to the wheels on stock LS430. I'm hoping with a intake and a free flow exhaust, we can see more gains.
Step one: Going to dyno the car to see where I am at right now.
Step two: Order the JET ECU reflash and get that installed.
STEP three: Back on the dyno for some real world hp gains.. or not.
Again, if anybody has tried this, please save me the time and money on this next experiment. Thanks!

sorry but i personally won't believe it. up till this point (20 yrs of lexus, let alone toyota) i have yet to see a real ecu reflesh or hack that actually increases the power on the v8. keep in mind, this is on gs400/430, sc430/ ls400/430 (not to mention the newer generations).
the 3 steps you have is not enough to see if there is performance gain
if you dyno the car now (reset the ecu or not), you get the numbers. then you put in the ecu reflash, then you dyno it immediately. yes, that number will compare with your dyno results with the ecu reset number. but i will say drive the car normally (key here, drive it with same kind of habit as before ecu, not more aggressive) for another 2000-3000 miles. do dyno again, that will be the long term number you compare with your dyno now.
a lot of people dyno right after flashing the ecu, of course the numbers could be good. i won't go into details, but toyota's computers are way smarter than what some think. if they sense something is "off", they actually and retune itself to "compensate" the change
well solo you know what i have done before, so...

I can see the Toyota ECU compensating to piggy backs.. but a complete reflash should not trigger anything bc we are literally changing the stock parameters. I'm just assuming..
