Now you've just gotta get something to clean the rest of the guts ;-)

The gloss black looks great. That's the look I was going for with mine but it didn't turn out quite that well. Maybe it's the clear coat.

the gloss is the clear coat 100000% painting is the easy part.

the wood trim definitely makes the interior look old. The sparkly gloss black looks awesome.

thanks man i was looking at different colors, i almost did a blue metalic, but found the black last second..

Did you buff after sanding between each layer?

no buff just wet sand. i have to wait a while for it to fully harden i put lots of layer on then i can wax it and buff it so it will shine even more.

I just want to re stain it a richer color like dark cherry or possibly paint it some other color what Kind of sandpaper did you use and paint etc Ive never done a project like that I want to save some money on doing the trim myself instead of sending it to Pattern tek which is going to charge me something like 250 to dip it lots of unnecessary cash. Thanks for the thread its a big help :)

Bryan

um mine is painted if you are gonna keep the wood and re-stain it, take it off first and look at the back of the trim, make sure its real wood.. then start with 220 grit paper and sand the thing, wet sand, then jump to like 800 then 1000, then end with 2000. then stain the wood and then sand again wit 2000 stain and then sand again with 200 then end with clear coat no sanding the clear... if your gonna paint it, paint it instead of staining it, and do like 4 coats of paint instead of 2 or 3 coats of stain.

not to thread jack....but
I have a completely black interior with old worn wood trim. What color do you guys think would look good to paint the trim? (i think all black would be too much)

Btw your painted trim looks great!

DasBach 03-19-09 08:16 PM

I have the gray leather int with black birds eye and I love it. That straight black looks great too, I love the high gloss.
