Very cool build! Looks great! I just authorized a rebuild on my transmission so I may as well move forward with some other upgrades to my '08 GS460. Thanks for the inspiration.
Been driving it for last few days, and it just never seemed right. At times it felt sluggish, but not all the time. I plugged in my scanner and started monitoring Fuel Trims. I noticed that it was running lean on both banks. Bank 1 seemed intermittent, Bank 2 was constant. I was puzzled, because when I step on it, it ran great, only at low rpm it felt like it was misfiring.
Ordered a smoke machine from Amazon and checked for vacuum and exhaust leaks, found none.
Then I was stopped at red light, noticed the rpm dropped and check engine light came on. Scanned it and it had P0174 System too lean Bank 2, P1170 Fuel Performance/Port injector. Monitored the misfiring and every cylinder on Bank 2 was misfiring. I ruled out injectors cause no way that they all failed at same time.
I decided to replace the upstream O2 sensors on both banks. Bank1 Sensor 1 was replaced by PO, I had a receipt as proof, however when I pulled on the wire it just came loose. I think that's why it was intermittent, cause it wasn't plugged in all the way. Bank 2 was bad. I replaced both with Denso and car finally feels great. I think since I bought the car it has never ran as strong as now.
Car is definitely a blast to drive now, it runs great.
I've been trying to find a short in illumination lights for all the buttons and shifter. I have to pull all the panels and test each bulb. I'm hoping it's in the door panel that I replaced.
I did install a high speed charger where lighter used to be, and finally about to install the amp and subwoofer this weekend.
Finished the Subwoofer install. I had the 12" Sundown sub and RF 1000W amp left from previous projects, way overkill for my goal but it was free.
So after careful eyeballing I decided to buy a prefab box from CT Sounds. It fits like a glove, no room to spare. I mounted the amp and LC2i pro signal converter on the back of the seat. For High Level input I tapped into 2 wires at the sub connector behind the seat and for remote ON I tapped into light gray wire in the small plug on the ML amp.
Installed new tail lights and black emblems. It's coming together slowly. Next is headlights, but I'm trying to find a vinyl wrap that matches Obsidian black. So far I've tried couple and they all look brown/grey in the sun compared to deep black on Lexus.
