I have a build thread going on this forum, but this specific question might not be seen by the masses if I post it there.
I am putting the GS450H drivetrain into a 1950 Plymouth. I am dismantling the Lexus, and do not foresee transferring the air bags into the Plymouth. Nor do I want them inflating accidently during tear down.
I understand I can deactivate them by pulling the fuse, but how do I make the warning light go out for good? Can I simply complete a grounding circuit or create an open circuit somewhere?
There are at least 10 airbag sensors too many to try and trick the computer into thinking everything is fine. There are other systems to worry about as well like pre-collision warning, blind spot warning, lane keep etc. all of this stuff goes into a multiplex module that interacts with the engine computer which does ABS, traction control among other functions. I think you get the point all the systems are interlinked. What exactly can be disabled, removed, bypassed and the like I couldn't say.
I got the thought because I successfully tricked the door open alarm sensor at the trunk to go off by simply grounding the switch. The car had been rear ended and had been that way since before I got it.
Also, my donor car is 17 years old and may not have everything the modern car has. Although I am aware of at least 10 airbags as mentioned.
