Default Code P2716

2012 LS 460 100k miles. I can't reset the code (P2716), it's been on for a week, but we don't drive it all that much. Called Palm Beach Lexus they said, over the phone, that I would need a new transmission, seemed extreme. Took it to a reliable independent mechanic who scanned it and said the solenoid(D) is stuck open and in his experience the debris clogging the solenoid wars from the torque converter. His solution was either replace torque converter and solenoid ($6,000) or get a rebuilt transmission ($11,000). I was thinking(hoping) a transmission service would solve the problem, but I have no experience with this. I don't believe this transmission has ever been serviced. Before this happened we were not planning to keep the car much longer, but we have been having a hard time finding a good 2017 to replace it. Thanks for the help.

Nobody would repair it. Replacing was the only choice, or just drive it with the light on.

So with the light on I tried entering details online into Carvana to see what their offer would be = $8,600.00

Then I drove it to Carmax and they could see the light, their Offer = $8,000. So in my mind the light was costing me $600.00.

Then we found a reasonable replacement car (2017 LS) at a Lexus Dealer (a one price Lexus dealer) and they offered $12,000 for the old car and we took it.
