Light Headlight Oxidation Write Up - McGuiar's PlastX & McGuiar's Mirror Glaze Polish
Hey Guys!
Picked this 2008 RX 350 about two weeks ago and noticed some light oxidation on headlights. It wasn't terrible but mostly on top part of headlight. I did some research and didn't think it needed to be sanded down and polish method. So I chose to use the McGuiar's products along with a buffer hand drill. Don't really need the hand drill but since I have it why not. Just word of advice of being careful and slowly press for drill speed.
Overall: I think it did the job, good enough. It's not gonna look brand new but cleared about 95% of the oxidation I'd say.
Total Time:
Step 2: Shake and dab McGuiar's PlastX onto microfiber or polisher and apply lightly evenly (I held drill and press 1/3 of button)
Step 3: Press firmly with polisher or microfiber to headlight area for about 1-2 minutes
Step 4: New microfiber towel to remove access and check outcome (Repeat 2-3 if needed, I did it 2x)
Step 5: Shake and dab McGuiar's Mirror Glaze onto microfiber like Step 2 followed by step 3. I put 2 coats of each total
Step 6: If still hazy and oxidized that means you probably need to go to the sanding method of using different grits remove surface of headlight to get the oxidized area out. Do at your own risk. This was just a project of mine.
I would probably do this every 6 months or if needed earlier. Photos below (sorry they came out so big)

Looks very nice. Hit them yearly with this stuff and you'll never have to do that again aside from any road rash.
