Default Ceramic coating new Niche rims

Hey all, experimenting with my new rims. Gold looking face is machined and the remaining black feels rough almost like powder coating. Had my heart set on doing a full treatment of the barrel and face in ceramic (cquartz uk) but surface doesnt seem to lend itself to ceramic coating. If I clay bar the barrels would it smooth out and prepare the surface properly? Heres a shot of my initial experiment on the face and inside one of the triangles, its subtle but all I did was IPA rub and two coats of ceramic....bottom center triangle to the right of the valve stem hole. Thought Id ask for thoughts before I go nuts...
