Default Semigloss Tire Dressing

So what does everyone prefer to use when going for that semigloss shine on their tires? Shiny glossy tires only look good for the few minutes after you dress them then proceed to sling themselves all over the body and pick up every drop of dirt you run over. I'd like that fresh look without all the mess.

My go to tire dressing is either CarPro PERL or Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel. Both are water based and can be diluted to fit your particular taste in terms of gloss/shine. I personally love a dark and deep looking tire so I use both neat.

Neither will sling when applied properly... thin coats, with plenty of time to dry (or wiped dry), and on a clean tire.

My favorite is still Meguiars Hyper Dressing.

Other ones are either too matte or difficult to apply. Meguiars is cost effective, easiest to use (imo), and can dilute to have amazing shine or matte as needed. They all wash away after a rain storm or two so who cares about spending $1,000 on some tire dressing that promises you something that's most likely complete BS.

FWIW, Opti-Bond is cheaper than D170

^Opti-Bond Neat... which is my personal favorite

but I've wanted to try hyper dressing for a while, just never got around to it. Have any pics of how it looks?

Zach, I have probably two gallons of Optibond and a few 16oz bottles. Not sure how I ended up with that much of it over the years. Not a fan of it at all, which is surprising because I generally love Optimum products. Meg's just kills it completely in every department. I only use Optimum if there is nothing else around at that moment in time, only if I have to.

Edit, sorry no pics, but it looks similar to yours diluted 1:1, and more glossy if used without dilution. I prefer it for the ease of application.

I've used STP Son of a Gun for years. Has the matte I like and not glossy greasy looking like Armor All. May not be the best but I like it. I usually apply to tires every other wash.

Can you explain what specifically you do not like and also what makes D170 easier to apply? Just trying to get a feel for why you consider it to be the superior product.

We simply wipe opti-bond on with a tire dressing applicator and let it dry to achieve the results shown in the pics. Just don't know how a tire dressing could be more difficult or more easy to apply.

I wish I didn't have to buy a gallon of D170 to try it out

I second Opti-Bond as well. Been using for the last few years and love it.
