Default Touch up Paint

I have 2 lexus and both exterior paints are described as White Diamond Pearl. But they are very different in color. One is a 99 ES and the other is a 93 LS. My question is I want to get some touch up paint but both colors are different. Isn't there a way to identify which touch paint you need from the VIN #?

Touch-up paint is usually identified by the white tag posted on the driver's side door jamb (in numbers "###"). You can also find the color code for the touch-up paint through this website. I'm not surprised to hear that the body paint on both cars look different, even though they're listed as the same color. It's probably due to the aging of the car, and the amount of exposure to dust, water, dirt, and whatever else is in the air. Making the touch-up paint blend in with the older-looking body color of your car can be tricky, but I've heard good results from the use of Langka.

Keep the questions coming as real spring weather is arriving, and I'm sure some of us are urging to get out and do some touch-up work on our cars!

Thanks for the info, mine are both 051, but the color is so different it isn't going to match well.

Is Cladding the grey panel on the bottom of the car if it is two-tone?

Also will the cladding touch up paint color work on the bumper?

Your concern of the touch-up paint over your current body color is understandable. My car (1996 ES300) is the same way, but it's a Black Onyx (202), and darker colors generally don't expose paint flaws themselves as easily as lighter colors. It's probably best to talk to an auto detail or body shop specialist and see what are his best suggestions for your situation.

Yes, the cladding is referred to the lower-colored portion of your car that has the 2-tone color. Like my ES, for example, it has the Dark Gray Metallic cladding (UCA138). The cladding touch-up paint should work on your bumper if your car is 2-tone. Just make sure you get the right color, of course, and also get the flex additive, as this prevents the touch-up paint on your bumper from cracking.

Here are the codes. I white is 051 but I can't find the grey?

C/TR: 051/LA10
A/TM: G922/A341E
Model UCF10L-AEPGKA

I am guess the C is for color 051 and the TR is for trim LA10?

Also, I have read a few places that there may be more than one step to the white? The website you send said it was Diamond White Pearl Tri-coat? Or do I need 041 White base coat and then go over with the 051 Diamond Pearl white?

thanks

Which car did you get the above color codes from? The gray cladding color code you stated as "UCF10L" does not match with codes listed in the Paintscratch website. I don't know what the "LA10" code means, but my assumption is that it has nothing to do with the color codes.

The tri-coat paint simply means it has 3 layers of paint: basecoat, midcoat and clearcoat. Every body color has a different kind of paint coat, but as far as I know, the Diamond White Pearl is the only one on the Lexus that has the tri-coat. Hope this helps.

"C/TR" means "Color/Trim" - the second code is the interior color

Strongsail is correct in what C/TR means, and "LA10" is the trim (inside) color, corresponding to "Shadow gray"
