clear hood shield
I posted on the ES forum but would like more comments about the clear "bra" that covers the bottom third of the hood on my 09 Lexus ES 350 that came with the car. It is the dark red color and really looks sharp. Was always garaged and cared for by the original owner. How do I handle that as far as washing and preserving without making the fine line more prevalent? I have learned much about sealants and waxes from reading these forums. BTW, have . used Lexol for the interior leather in my other cars. Thanks for your responses.

Treat it as you would treat paint.
The only time I have seen the line become more prevelant is when someone quickly throws a paste wax on the area and does not remove the dried wax residue that bulds up along the edge. Same thing with polishing, compound or polish will build up on the edge, you just need to grab a MF towel and remove it. Problem solved.
I'd suggest a paint coating or synthetic spray sealant as those do not leave this white residue to begin with, much better than using old school waxes.
