my lexus carpet is kinda of dirty. Can I get regular carpet shampoo and clean the carpet. Or what else can i do.

when i was going to school i worked @ the local lex dealer in their detail shop and earned a few tricks cleaning cars and one of them is the carpet. i just did my beige carpet in my 95 geees and it turned out real nice. here's how:
using a terry cloth towel and thinner i rubbed the carpet to losen the dirt then sprayed the carpet with shampoo solution and water then brushed it to lift the carpet and dirt out then used a wet vacuum to get suck out everything. it sounds a little offbeat using paint thinner but it works. i suggest trying on a small piece first until your comfortable.
