When I waxed my 2012 RX350 a couple weeks ago I notice I got white film from the wax showing on my dark vinyl lower section on my front and rear bumpers and along the rocker panels.

Anyone know the easiest way to remove this film?

Thanks

GRPFAN, I've moved your thread to the Automotive Care and Detailing Forum. There's probably a few threads on this topic already. One thing you could use,and it's probably something you have in the house, is peanut butter. Rub it on the spots and rinse off.

I'd use an all-purpose cleaner and agitate with a soft nylon brush.

I would suggest taping off the areas in the future, or a better solution, change to a product that doesn't stain trim. One that I use is Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax (ULW). This is really a sealant that I use on all the exterior of my vehicles. It does not stain trim and actually gives it a nice dressed look that lasts a long time. I no longer use a dedicated trim dressing.

Meguiar's also make Ultimate Quik Wax (UQW) which is a spray-on /wipe-off version and I use this after every wash to maintain the slickness and boost the original ULW protection. This product also does not stain trim.

^^^Yea, some wax/sealant will stain and some will not. Just tape off the vinyl/plastic trim section. To take care of your problem, just try spraying some water on it and scrubbing with a brush or microfiber towel. If that doesn't work, try mixing some rubbing alcohol and water and spray on the trim. BUT make sure you cover the paint that's waxed.

The rubbing alcohol mixture will remove wax so you don't want it to get on your paint. If you do, it's not a big deal, just rewax.

You want a 10% concentration so mix accordingly.
