While using the Google search engine today, I see that google has posted a warning that visiting the Autopia site may harm my computer.
Google has has exposed Autopia for using malware that can harm and extract personal information from any one who visits their site.
What a bunch crooks.
These are the same guys who accuse other sites of attacking peoples computers.

Well it looks as if they may have messed with the wrong people and got the script flipped.
I love it.

This happened to me, I thought I was going crazy.. Visited the site on a Vista equipped PC, and all the sudden I get the Trojan.

That sucks but sometimes 2nd parties infect host sites and spread virus/malware without the original site even noticing it. These malware/spyware hosts seek out sites that are popular and get alot of hits or heavily searched pictures/terms and somehow infect those sites or reroute the address so when people visit them they get something even though the original site had nothing to do with it.

Last year I got a nasty virus from trying to watch a "Top Gear" video from some torrent site that was linked from CL. I got a virus when looking up a PSP video game too from a legit site that was hacked.

I was just on autopia and did not have any issues. If autopia is purposely spreading malware/spyware, shame on them and I will not visit their site anymore.

I've been browsing that site for years. Looks like they've just been infected...I don't believe they are spreading any viruses.

This sucks.

I haven't had any problems yet on Autopia. But recently they just upgraded their website. Should it be better now?

I would not be so quick to judge that they are doing this intentionally. One of our very own vendors had no idea that his page had a trojan on it until I personally informed him that my malware detection snagged it. He immediately shut it down, fixed the bug, and thanked me. This may very well be a similar case. In any event, be sure you are using a quality program, and malware will have very little effect on you. There are plenty of free options out there, too, so don't believe the hype about paying for it. Donations = much mo betta.

I've never had a problem with Autopia's site, or with malware for that matter. Seems to me like some users don't know how to navigate through websites without clicking "Yes" on random ads. Not saying anything just that it's not that hard to navigate without damaging your computer.

I've been posting on Autopia since 2003, and wow, was there an uprising recently when they changed the forum software. I had heard from some of the board members there that there might be malware issues, but every time I run my malware software I come up clean.

Interesting that Google still flags it....

Same thing happened to me on Friday. Was on autopia - clicked a link in the forum and then instant malware. Got rid of the "virus checker" that installed but still have issues with
google links being redirected. Visit site at your own risk!
