Touching up black pearl emblems? Need your input..
I have a set of used BP emblems that I want to mount. There's a little spot on the "L" emblem that looks like the clear coat is pealed off. Is there a way to fix this? Can I apply clear coat over this...
Another question I have is on my "Lexus" emblem there are some noticeable scratches on couple of the letters. Is there a way to eliminate those scratches? I know the BP emblems are much more delicate than the standard chrome so rubbing compound would completely rip off the clear coat right? I've search and couldn't find anything that relates to this....unless I missed it.
Please someone chime in and give me some ideas.
Thanks!

The lack of response is because there is not really anything that can be done about "peeling" chrome. The only way outside of "band-aid" type fixes is to repeat the process.

If that doesn't work, it's time to buy new or have them redone (the latter being the more expensive option in most cases).

Scratch x is mostly designed for paint, not fixing chrome trim. I would suggest some chrome polish. I know Turtle Wax products are mostly crap as far as wax goes, but I've used their chrome polish for years and never been let down. Readily available for about $6-8 at your local parts place, and a bottle lasts a LONG time. Tape off the area, apply carefully with either a soft applicator or Q-tip, then buff off.
If that doesn't work, it's time to buy new or have them redone (the latter being the more expensive option in most cases).

my Black Pearl emblem had what looked like rock chips all over it. i took it to the dealer and they said whoever owned the car before me must have used some abrasive cleaner on it and it pitted the entire emblem. i purchased the car from an out of state dealer so they weren't the ones who even sold me the car. They contacted the original dealer who sold the car new and then the place who manufactured the black pearl emblems as they said it was an aftermarket application but wanted to make it right since they use them for their dealership and as well and they got it covered under my warranty.
nice shiny new black pearl emblem for me
