Default Going to wax/detail my car for the st time could use some advice

This weekend I am going to wax my car for the 1st time. Color is Stafire Pearl. In the past nn my fiji blue 06 civic si I watched it with Meguires deep crystal, clay bar, Black magic wax, and then used a Mequire detailing spray and had great results. Can I use the same prducts on the IS or should I use a different wax? I won't spend a ton on the wax so a decent wax that can be store bought would be my option. Also I have a Sewell Lexus installed clear bra on the hood, bumper and side mirrors. Anythin I need to do with that? Had the car a year now and with the SI i was waxing it every 4 months so I have gotten lazy with the IS. It will all be done by hand also no machines.

Thanks

It sounds like all you want to do is wax the car, so no machine should be required. What you have should work fine for basic cleaning and waxing, but the difference between waxes is that some are more durable than others and provide different types of shine. You should pick your wax off color and paint type. I have a different wax for black cars, metallic paint or paint with lots of flakes, pearl paint (like dwp or gfm), and then light colors like silver.

that sounds like a plan, I do agree with BLKexcoupe you might want something more durable especially if you only get to wax every few months.

you may even want to consider a sealant that would be more durable.

2 products maybe

agreed! If you dont get the chance to reapply too often, a durable sealant is the way to go. On Pearl paint, I'd probably choose OptiSeal. Its a wipe on, walk away product, meaning that you dont have any residue to buff off. The product actually evaporates. This is nice b/c it saves a LOT of time. OS looks great pearls and metallics imo, and as mentioned has really good durability. That'd by my choice, but you can certainly use the same products you've been using if you're more comfortable doing so

So the sealant is applied after using the wax such as Black magic or so on?

I would apply the sealant first if you want to apply both, sealant and wax. however, applying wax is not required after OptiSeal. You can layer OptiSeal if you want some added gloss.

Meguiars Ultimate compound yields very good results by hand(to remove swirls); so does poorboys ...
