Are the current UDMs exactly like the PC 7424? If so, that means there is a reduction in power because the original UDM was a good amount stronger.
Or did they increase reliability by having it built by PC, while still retaining the original power?

I'm fairly certain the UDM is now a PC 7424. I don't know that I'd really say the original UDM was "a good amount stronger" since it was only 4.2A vs 3.7A. That's only about 12%, and if the reliability is improved by going to the PC, I say go for it!
The UDM was stronger at full speed. My friend has one (blkexcoupe) and I have the PC. The UDM can correct so much faster than the PC, but it came with heavy vibration which I was not fond of. Of course its no match for my rotary. I can make the PC bog down easily where as the UDM will keep on going. Sometimes things dont look that much different on paper, but it can certainly make a large difference Too bad it had quality issues.
