Default Porter Cable 7424 buffer

From reading some post and thread it seems that this buffer is valued.

but i was wondering where can i find the best price for this buffer?

i've seen 1 online for $99.00 for only the buffer and no accessories...

can someone point me in the right direction?

$99 is very good. Suggest you get three plain flat white pads, a backing plate, and that's it. Avoid the rainbow of colored pads and concave and convex shapes. They're just gimmicks (like many, many other detailing products) IMO.

Actually, The different colored pads do serve a specific purpose. (I'm speaking of the Lake Country pads) If you need to do any type of paint correction, you will definately need to use the orange or yellow pad. Depending upon the severity of correction needed. You will find that the orange pad is the workhorse. I do use the black and blue pads for my finishing products such as glazes and some waxes. You will find that using these pads allows a more uniform coverage as well as preventing product waste.
It really depends on how involved you want get with your detailing.
Remember... the quality of your finished work is very dependant upon surface preperation.

How are the different pads gimmicks? Different manufacturers use different colors for the differences in the pads characteristics. They make finishing pads, polishing pads, cutting pads, depends on what task and polish or wax you're using you will need to use a different pad for effectiveness, no gimmick at all.
