Default 2IS Instrument Panel + Dash Issues

Anyone else hate the fact that the clear plastic in this car is softer than Snuggles the bear himself? I mean, how is it that if you lightly touch it, its an automatic scuff/scratch?

I mistakenly took my car to a hand car wash on Saturday that had a GREAT rep... unfortunately, theyre terrible... and despite the fact I told them to only do my interior windows, the dumb illegal decided to swipe my gauge cluster and radio panel and left nice streaks, smears, scratches... you name it... its there.

Anyone else have beef with this?!

I will not be quite as harsh as the previous post, but like the old cliche: If you want a job done right, do it yourself.

I love car washes because I am lazy, I think I will stick to car washes for my older car and wash my Lexus myself.

Instead of giving me a lecture on why I should wash my own car... how bout some suggestions on how to handle the issue. What do you guys use to keep your 2IS looking its newest.

BTW, thanks USC for your pleasant comments. If you worked 6 days a week like I do, sometimes the last thing you feel like doing is washing your own car. Needless to say, I ended up washing it myself 24 hrs later

aclarke,

I'm moving your post to the detailing forum so you'll get better responses from our pro detailer moderators.

If you'd try the advanced search features I believe there are several posts on removing scratches from the gauges. The soft plastic issue is not exclusive to the 2IS, the same issues exists with both my LS and GS.

I searched this forum (auto care and detail) for 'gauge cluster' and 'gauge plastic', these might be helpful to start.
