Default What does "Glaze/Sealer" do?

I recently read in some detailing tips about using a "glaze/sealer" after claybaring and before carnuaba waxing. Is there any reason to do this to a relatively new car? My 2004 LS430 now has 20,000 miles and is garage kept. It gets MALMS carnuaba wax every 8 weeks. Would claybaring then glazing/sealing do anything at all to enhance appearance (beyond the showroom look already there) or add to appearance durability?

I'd suggest your car could probably use a claying if it has not been done in 20k. Wash and thoroughly dry your car and draw your fingertips over the paint. Does it feel as smooth as glass? If not then a clay is in order.

A glaze will add wetness to almost any finish. I can see the difference in wetness on my 04 RX330 when using a glaze. A glaze contains a lot of specialized oils that will hide slight swirls and reduce the appearance of scratches. I use Meguiar's #81 Speed Glaze. I seal the glazed surface with NXT Tech Wax. A glaze does not affect durability either way in my experience.

OK, I'll try it!
