What Do You Want to Know about the Lexus GX460?
Several Lexus SUVs have been updated in the past couple of years, including a redesign of the famous RX, and the introduction of the NX line. But what if you’re looking for something bigger, with the ability to carry 7 passengers? From Lexus, one of your options is the GX460. While it’s a bit older in the product life cycle, it still has a lot to offer, and we’re spending a week in one to see how it compares to other vehicles in this class.
Bucking the trend of modern vehicles, this Lexus is powered by a 4.6L DOHC V8, making 301 horsepower and 321 lb-ft of torque. While it’s true smaller engines are making more power these days, it’s still really hard to argue with the performance and sound of a V8. Not that you hear the engine all that much in this thing, because the sound insulation is top notch.
It also has some serious off-road credentials, even if it’ll never go off-road. Full-time four-wheel drive is on hand, and there’s a low-range if you need it. Hill descent control makes things a bit easier, and a high-adjustable air suspension helps you clear the big rocks. Since it is the sibling of the 4Runner, we aren’t surprised that it has capability baked in.
Total MSRP is $65,570, which includes the $940 destination charge, which is full-loaded. We do notice some things missing that we’d expect from a vehicle of this price, but how will that affect our overall review? Stay tuned for that!
