Flat-Back SC 400 Hits eBay, Confuses Masses

We’ve all thought it, right? “You know, I love the SC 400, but it’s just too long and too round.” Well, your prayers have been answered. Sort of.

It’s hard to understand why this happened, and how. So it might be worth it to hear where the owner was coming from. According to the eBay listing, the person selling this heavily-modified SC is 77 years-old. His rationale makes a kind of sense when he explains it:

While a fan of the SC 400 (I have another one with 28,000 original miles) I also wanted a look of a Corvette so I had the rear end of the car (there was no accident damage to the car) cut off and replaced with 14 ga steel to give a different look.  I don’t know if I like it or not but it certainly attracts attention.

That kind of DIY ethic actually makes sense when you consider cars like the AC Cobra and the Daytona Cobra coupe, which has a rear-end with about as much style as this thing. Does that make it a race car? No. No it does not. But it could be!

Sadly, Lexus fans with an active imagination and a bit of cash in their wallet missed out on the bidding for this one, as it somehow sold for $5,000.
